Education is one thing no one should take away from their country if they wish to see development and a bright future. A good education can change anyone, a good support in education can change everything. Good Neighbors Cambodia (GNC) understands these statements very well and has worked for good education for Cambodians through its program sectors and partnering with local governments and schools since 2002. GNC provides scholarships, implements blended learning, organizes vocational training, and contributes gifts of money and kindness to Cambodian youth and children to succeed in self-development. In particular, we are helping Cambodia develop further and help community people and children in underprivileged areas live in a better environment. Recently, GNC contributed school equipment in the amount of 11,156.35 US dollars (Tables, White Board, Electronic Fans, Handwashing Station, toilet for male students, library, books and bookshelves, printer, laptops) to Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Thmei Primary School in S’ang District in Kandal Province.

 

On Saturday 27th January 2024, with respectful support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, GNC contributed and organized a school equipment handing over ceremony under the presence of H.E Mrs. TOUCH Sopharath Under Secretaries of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Hoy Sopheap, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Dongwon Jang, Country Director of Good Neighbors Cambodia Chairman of Council of Korean Development NGOs in Cambodia, Ms. Sok Mija, Vice Chairman of Council of Korean Development NGOs in Cambodia, Chairman of Saang District Education Council, local authority the principal of Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Thmei Primary School, teachers and students in the total amount of 230 participants to congregate students and teacher for their new learning and teaching environment which is more friendly, supportive and comfortable.

During the event, Mr. Suon Sopheap, the School Principal as the representative of 200 students and all households in the S’ang district, came on stage to share the process of school development and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for this grand opportunity and to GNC for these unbelievable supports and contributions to Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Thmei Primary School. School principals, teachers, and students will use all school equipment effectively and carefully from generation to generation.

H.E Mrs. TOUCH Sopharath stated that Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Thmei Primary School environment has changed almost compared to the previous situation. She is happy that Cambodian students in rural areas can experience good care and attention. She encourages all students will solidarity to take care of new equipment and the environment and study hard to achieve a good education and future. H.E. continued to thank GNC for showing dedication to supporting the Cambodian next generation in education.

Additionally, Mr. Dongwon Jang congratulated Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Thmei Primary School for the improved study environment and healthy atmosphere. Moreover, he showed GNC’s delight with a chance to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, especially to present a gift today. He continued, “I will encourage more Korean organizations and partners to continue cooperation in the future as a Chairman of the Council of Korean Development NGOs in Cambodia”.

At the end of the ceremony, led by the school principal, all event participants visited the newly equipped classrooms, the library, and the handwashing station and had encouraging conversations with students to boost their motivation to study and protect school belongings well for long-term use.
